The Trouble with Humans (Game)

The Trouble with Humans (Game)

This game from Rangeet’s Ecology Umbrella shines a light on the fact that humans are responsible to a large extent for destroying the earth. But positive actions we take today can impact the Earth and protect it.

Materials Needed:

  • Printed game board which can be accessed from this link. (It can be printed on recycled or scrap paper.)
  • A dice

Process:

The teacher will:

  • Print the four illustrations from the link, cut the borders and stick them together to make one game board.
  • Explain the objective of this game: understanding things that contribute to destroying the Earth and things that we can do to protect it.
  • Place the game board on the floor in the middle of the classroom or on the teacher’s desk.
  • Divide the class into two teams.
  • Instruct each team to take turns to roll the dice.
  • Explain that if a team lands on an image, the team must decide if the image belongs under “What Are Humans Doing Today That Is Destroying The Earth?” or “What Should Humans Do To Protect Our Future?”A key is given on the right side of the game board to guide the children.
  • If a team lands on an image that depicts “What Are Humans Doing Today That Is Destroying The Earth?” they have to go down the chain saw, if they land on an image that depicts “What Should Humans Do To Protect Our Future?” they have to go up the vine.
  • The team that makes it to 50 first is the team that wins, suggesting that the children will do everything they can to protect our future.

It’s important to find ways to bring joy to the act of learning. Interested in doing that too? Reach out to info@rangeet.com to work with us!
